Eragon Movie vs Book

Ok. Just to make this short and to the point: If you love dragonriders, go see the movie or pick up the book. Both explain the story excellently, so I have nothing to say but to go see it!

Weekly Blogg

Well, I guess it's time for a blogg. It's 3:25 in the morning and I'm falling asleep. That means I'm writing this at a good time.

[ M O N D A Y ]

Dang. Today isn't going the way I wanted to. I'm currently at my parents' house (technically mine) for the shortened holiday. I woke up late and rushed to pack my truck. Before long, Gadget and Latavious (my roommates) decided to help pack the truck with their stuff when I asked if they were coming or not.

Finally, we hopped on the road in my Ford Ranger XLT Extended Cab for the 5 hour journey to Illinois. I feel sorry for Latavious, who had to sit in the back. I was surprised in Paducah, KY when it took $20 to fill my tank. I mean, it was that much? Well, that's all I had there.

We made it safe there. Thank the good lord for that.

[ T U E S D A Y ]

Nothing really happened today. It was typically laundry day. Oh, I almost forgot! I got my hair cut in Danny's Barber Shop! All I got to say is dang! Danny did an awesome job as usual. I deciding right now that I am not getting a high and tight ever again! My hair is too short! I miss my shag...

[ W E D N E S D A Y ]

We went to the St. Louis Art Museum today with my mom and my older sister. I just got to say this: I have never been more bored in my life! Don't get me wrong: I appreciate art, but I just can't stay silent for long. Or I fall asleep. It's one of the side-effects of having A.D.D.

I was so out of it. My mom even offered me chocolate and I wasn't awake enough... But I did have the mocha flavored one and yeah. If you ever meet me and try to offer me anything Mocha flavored, I WILL NOT take it. I hate coffee.

[ T H U R S D A Y ]

Santa came early! So did the family pictures. Ok, I slept until 10 am when my mom woke me up and told me to get dressed. After a few minutes of questioning, I found out that she and my dad were dragging my 3 sisters and me to Wal-Mart to have our Christmas Pictures taken. There, I got new shoes and the movie "The Majestic".

Yes. I know "The Majestic" is somewhat old, and all that. But it's good. On the cover, it says "Two Thumbs Up!" I totally disagree! It deserves all 6 thumbs up. So I'm four thumbs short... Anybody want to lend me a few thumbs?

Back to the accounting, We went home and picked up my paycheck... I'm now rich! ...Or until it's gone. Work was really busy without a foodrunner. They didn't schedule any of the 5 foodrunners. Their fault.

[ F R I D A Y ]

Gadget woke me up at 10 am today and forced me to drive him and Latavious down to Alabama. As soon as I got done, Gadget took my presents that my parents gave me and he's now holding them hostage in Alabama. I'll get them back on Christmas.

Anyway, I got a $3 tip at work today. And I been getting people left and right telling them I won't be able to work on Monday. A few of my coworkers snapped to the fact that Monday is Christmas Day and we're closed. But for the manager who does my schedule, "But I just gave you time off... wait a minute! You got me good!"

Wed, Dec. 13th, 2006, 09:45 am

This is my official rant of April 2005 to now! I just thought to bring this up: I have two freaking more classes before I am done with High-Tech Institute. This rant will probably be the longest rant that I do. I'm going to pile all the memories up now that way, it's easier to deal with when it comes time to do it.

So many memories, where do I start? Ok, I'll start with my first roommates, Aaron and Errol. Aaron, thanks for the all the good memories. Errol, never come back. To the teachers that I had, thank you for letting me be me, no matter how nuts I got.

To other roommates that I can't remember, thank you for leaving me alone.

To the people who put Anime Music Videos online, thanks for making sure I wouldn't get my work done... Scratch that... It's to all the people who created video games such as 'Black and White 2' and 'Final Fantasy X' also...

To Ashdon, please seek help...

To Nashville Comics Creators, thanks for being there to judge my stuff and show me that I'm not alone in this world. Well, with comic stuff anyway.

Personal Juggalo section:

To Latavious, Your stubborness kept me sane to say the least even though I keep... yeah...

To Luke, thanks for being my Kohai! I wish you luck with your webcomic, All in Love and War in Chibi form. Get better in Go so I'll have someone to play with!

To Keke, what's there to say here? I mean you're already awesome! You've been there when I really needed you. Whenever you need me, I'll be there for you, sis.

To Gadget, . . . . Wait... . . . Ok. I'm ready to start. Are you ready? Well, too bad. I'm starting now. You're an excellent driver, when you had your license. Ah, the memories... ( 0_0 - watch out for that cat! NO! THAT ONE! ) Thanks for being a homie and a juggalo all the way.

To Jaide, Thanks for helping out whenever you could! Also, thanks for avoiding the semis, hummers, and large cars that come flying after us in your car... Whenever I'm actually in your car, I'm now expecting something like that...

To Ian and Krystal, thank you for pointing out what I can have when I reach for it. You'll being seeing more of me in the near future as I continue to reach to be the best DJ I can be.

To Korah, thank you for making me an uncle! I can't wait to see how you grow up. I'll be along spoiling you then running away as Ian chases me away with a paintball gun. So much love from your uncle DJ.

To my family(elsons, scantlings, juggalos, reitz, St. Louis team), say it with me: "DJ, you have been a pain..." Well, you do know you want to say it! So go head. It won't hurt my feelings. I have a feeling that I'm going to stay in Nashville for a while after the school's done with.

Walking everywhere

I was walking everywhere all this week! I mean it was kinda nice and my feet are kinda sore... I missed some school do to it, but Gadget's back. I'm happy with that!

On other news, Dreambuilder is down for right now... I've been thinking I could update it in here. The only thing is that I got some time to get it all together and plan it out better! And we'll have Dreambuilder up fast!

Mon, Oct. 30th, 2006, 08:40 am
I have a live journal? Better update!

It's been so long since I updated here, hasn't it? I mean since last update which was when? I don't even remember that! Ok... Starting from beginning again. (Which is what I'm good at!)

Dear LJ,
I woke up with a headache and I was still aching from playing too much DDR at Sugoi-Con! Yeah! I'll be in the Cincinnati Inquirer, (I hope). Anyway I'm in class right now but on break.

Sugoi-Con was really fun! I won't say I was stalking Dan Hess, one of my favorite webcomic authors! But within 10 minutes of Con opening, I found him and made him do a sketch for me! It took him about three seconds! Literally! But that's not all! I also saw him as a pirate! Ok... Better stop now or he might have a restraining order against me.

I also met Robert and Emily DeJesus! They're awesome! There's a sketch in my book from him! I got one word to add to that sketch: Catgirl. Yes, he drew me a catgirl with an orange marker! Which is funny due to the fact that my Kohai, Luke, claimed this world needed catgirls. I didn't tell Robert, but I was happy!

It wasn't all fun and games though. My tire blew out and I haven't told my parents yet which come this week. I am so going to hear it from them!

Ok, that was my overview of the con. Lets see... Umm...

Oh yeah! My webcomic's bandwidth is gone! $30 bucks to advertise and that goes like that! I'm now going to switch to another host with more room. Wednesday's update will be about 5-6 pages inked and all that good junk!

Signing off for now,
Don Elson

7:21 am already?

Comic Life:
OH MAN! I been up all night drawing! I don't know, I think I can stay up if I really enjoy something. If I keep up with the schedule Gadget and I set for the webcomic, I'm techically done for a month! Go me! Gadget's going to be very busy with the six rough drafts that he has to illustrate in Illustrator.
Anyway, I drew Kendi for Out of Place, Tally's webcomic. The drawing looks good if I say so myself! But I have found a few errors. D:< I just hope that Tally won't mind.

Regular Life:
Nothing too stressful in this column! My room is almost clean which in itself is a huge accomplishment! :) Everywhere else is cleaned except my truck and my computer space. Gotta have chaos somewhere!
Have to go back to school today... I have to listen to my teacher's griping that windows is obsolete, and macs rule the world. Let's get this straight right now! I SUPPORT BOTH Operating Systems! I grew up with the knowledge of all Windows, but I like how the Macs kinda remind me of Windows 3.1. They just do....

Comic Status:
First chapter roughs (almost 1/3 done)
First chapter finals (ZIP!)

Sun, Jan. 8th, 2006, 07:30 pm
Web comic raving...

Officially I have 4 scripts ready for Gadget who went home so he'll be very, very busy when he comes back. And that's not all that I'll have for him. I plan on having 2 more scripts done before then. >:)

Anyway, I've created my own web comic. Bushinstudios.com/Dreambuilder/ is the address! This is the second time that I did it! Hopefully, this will last longer than Red Shaded. NO! It WILL last longer! The art is better! I have my own website and I've everything planned out in chapter 1. I'm working on chapter 2 which I am working on something very special!

Location: Work Caverns

Darron walks in and spots a dragonrider. Looking down at his list, he sees the broken table and starts to examine it. "Hello, dragonrider..."

T'an is just about to place a pile of straps on one of the workbenches. "Hello. Shouldn't I use this one? I can go somewhere else if I'm in your way."

Darron says, "Why does everyone on Pern think they'll be in my way? Actually, I believe that workbench is good to use." He points to a workbench right beside the broken one as he pulls out his knife and starts taking out the legs of the table. "And no, you aren't in my way."

Darron shakes his head with the feeling that the dragonrider was right. "Are you T'an, the brown rider?"

T'an looks up from his work and grins. "No, I'm T'an the greenrider. Yranth's, to be exact. And you're... Darron. You were a candidate when I was candidate co-ordinator."

Darron says, "So that means that you were in charge of the candidates, right?" He laughs as he takes a closer look at the leg, "Too bad I didn't impress, but I was glad to stand for that clutch."

T'an looks at him for a moment, frowning as if trying to remember something. "Did you stand for the last clutch, too? I don't remember." He's straightening the straps and undoing buckles, isolating the bit he wants to work on.

Darron shakes his head no as he carves a little wedge into the leg. "No, that drat Headwoman had me fixing something at the time. If I knew, I'd probably be a dragonrider right now."

T'an raises both eyebrows at the accusation. "You missed the Hatching? And you were a candidate? However did that happen? I'm sure she wouldn't have done it on purpose, but it's pretty hard not to notice when the dragons start humming."

Darron says, "I was in here at the time." Darron puts down the leg and picks up another leg and he starts carving the wedge in the leg. "By the first egg, I'll impress next time."

T'an smiles, but it's rather a puzzled smile. "Good luck to you." He picks up the unwanted straps and moves them to the end of the bench, then turns the remaining main section so that the worn part is in front of him and unfastens his tool roll.

Darron pushes the leg back into position and stretches. 'These chores are getting tiredsome,' Darron thought as he grabbed the other leg and pushed it into place. "I don't need luck for this."

T'an looks up again and grins. "What are you working on these days, then? You were helping... I can't remember his name. The handyman. When you stood before, I mean."

Darron ruffles his hair and answers, "I work on whatever the headwomen needs me to do. I believe the man's name was Jarin, but I could be wrong. I forget things easily..."

"Jarin? He's the journeyman woodcrafter. I thought you were working with one for one of the folk who do general repairs, at first. Doesn't matter, anyway; you're obviously not working with him now." T'an grins as he pulls a sharp tool from his tool roll. "Jarin made us a very nice end-table for our weyr."

Darron hopes and adds, "I just hope it never breaks or I hear the end of the repairs." Darron smiles as he picks up the third leg and starts carving the wedge. "So T'an, do you do anything for leisure?"

T'an chuckles. "Leisure? I think I remember that." He starts unpicking stitches. "I like reading history, and I like swimming - especially if I can get to somewhere pleasant to do it rather than the lake here." The pointed tool moves rapidly as he works his way along the seam, talking as he works. "How about you?"

Darron looks weird when T'an mentions reading history. "I would say knife-play..." he takes his knife and twirls it around before returning to the cut.

"Really," T'an responds in a fairly flat tone, though he shoots a glance at the young man. "Do you practise?" He pulls at two pieces of hide, exposing more stitches.

Darron chuckles. "Have you ever heard of the bowl? Large space to practice." He puts down the knife and pushes the leg back into place. He grabs the last leg and starts to cut the wedge like all the others.

"I guess so," T'an says. He's still unpicking stitches, and concentrating mainly on that. At last, he's done, and moves on to the seam at the end of that length of hide, repeating the process. For the sake of polite conversation, he enquires, "You like it here, then? Presumably, as you've stayed."

Darron shakes his head with a sign of trouble. "It's better here then at Fort Hold... Oh, I'm sorry. How long have you been here at Fort Weyr?"

"Me? About four turns. We were at Ista before that." Pick, pick, pick. T'an's getting through the second seam fairly quickly. "You were at the Hold, then? I liked it all right, but I wasn't in the Hold itself. Still, this is a pretty good place to live."

Darron says, "It's different when the Hold's Stewart is always looking down your back." He didn't want to look at the Stewart ever again if he could afford it."

T'an murmurs, "Oh, dear," in that polite, just-keeping-up-with-the-conversation kind of way. Then he pulls at the two pieces of strap, separating the last couple of stitches, and starts to measure the bit he's removed against the new piece of hide. As he marks where he needs to cut, he adds kindly, "Still, you're older now. I don't suppose people are breathing down your neck so much these days."

Darron says, "T'an, you'd be surprised what the Hold thinks of me." He chuckles as he places up his knife and pushes the final leg into place. Sitting the workbench upright, Darron backs away. "So, how does that look?"

T'an turns his head to look at the upturned workbench, still holding the pieces of hide in position. "Seems OK. What were you doing to it, anyway?" He holds the hide with one hand and starts to prick marks at corners with the other.

Darron says, "This workbench was creaking everyone insane." Darron takes a look at T'an. "So what are you doing?"

"I'm repairing Yranth's straps." T'an goes on to explain. "There was a section that had worn, so I'm putting in a new piece of hide. It wouldn't do to have them give way in Fall." He moves along the bench to mark up the other end, rather than disturbing the carefully arranged hide.

Darron says, "Wouldn't that mean that you would fall to your death?" He rocked the workbench and no sounds came out."

T'an turns a frown on Darron. After a moment, he says, "Quite possibly. So, I'd really rather it didn't happen." He nods to indicate the workbench. "No squeaks?"

Darron says, "No squeaks. My chore is done..."

T'an grins. "Good for you. I wish mine were: I'm going to be at it for a while and I've other things to do before dinner." He swaps the pointed tool for a carbon stick and straight-edge, and continues marking out the hide.

Darron says, "I've cleaned that wall by the lake already today." Darron knew he couldn't compete with a dragonrider when it came to chores."

T'an smiles as he works. "Sounds as if you've been busy." He rules another line, then turns the straight-edge to do the other side. "Have you more to do today?"

Darron looks at the chore list that escaped earlier, "Nope."

T'an pulls a leather-knife from his tool roll and starts to cut. The knife has a handle along the back of a half-moon shaped blade, so the job involves leaning on it. He works neatly and swiftly, talking as he cuts. "Well, you're done for the day, then. Guess I'll get this done in time for dinner, anyway. There's not much stitching to be re-done."

Darron stretches and gives off a big yawn. "Well, I'm going to take a nap before dinner... Night." Darron walked to the lower caverns.

Darron's fixing a wall

Location: The lake in Fort Weyr

Story:
Darron heads over toward the lake and feeding grounds.

Darron stretches as he looks at the wall. He quickly sighs as he starts repairing it.

Imari is just relaxing on one of the rocks near the lake, slowly munching on a meatroll and watching the dragons down by the feeding pens. She glances up as someone starts working. "Hello, need me to be elsewhere so you can work?" she asks politely.

Darron looks at the person on a rock near the lake. Smiling, he answers, "No, you're just fine where you are." He turns and continues scraping the wall.

Imari studies you a few minutes. "We've not met," she says, quietly, pleasantly. "I'm Imari. What're you doing, by the way?"

Darron turns to Imari and looks surprised. "Um... I'm Darron," he introduces himself, "and as for what I'm doing... I'm repairing the wall."

"I didn't realize it needed fixing," Imari comments, licking her fingers free of grease. "Of course, I'm not trained to notice things like that, so I guess I wouldn't know if it needed repairing or not. Do you fix a lot of things around here?" she inquires, just making conversation.

Darron brushes his hair in surprise. Then he turns back to scraping the wall, "I hope you don't mind me talking like this... But I can repair anything in the weyr, as that's my job. So what are you doing here?"

"Oh, I'm just a seamstress," Imari replies. "I sew and and fix things with needle and thread," she says with a grin. "And I draw a bit, do a few portraits on the side for extra marks. Otherwise, I'm a lady of leisure -- if you consider working down in the laundry most of the day leisure," she adds with a laugh and a grin.

Darron says, "Leisure... I know about that," Darron smiles as he pulls out his knife and twirls in his hand without cutting himself. Quickly, he puts it away and returns to scraping the wall. He adds with a laugh, "I may come to you some day with clothes that I've ripped..."

Imari watches the twirling knife with slightly wary eyes, perhaps afraid he'll lose control of it. "So, what's wrong with the wall?" she asks, brow knitting as she watches. "And, sure, just bring anything that needs mending down to the work cavern. It'll get fixed, if not by me, then one of the other girls there."

Darron says, "Dealing with the wall, it just needs to be cleaned and scraping it is the fastest way." Thinking, he adds, "if you have anything like equipment that needs to be repaired, feel free to tell me."

"Oh, I don't have anything like that," Imari assures you. "The only equipment I really work with are needle and thread, or charcoal and hide," she adds. "Nothing much there to break or need fixing, really." She shifts her position, turning so she's facing you, her feet swinging free below the rock. "I did notice one of the wagon tongues was loose the other day, but that's about I can think of that needs to be fixed around here. But, you know, the stable hands might know of stuff," she suggests.

Darron says, "The stable hands are always asking for help," Darron shakes his head downward not hidding the slur in his voice. It had been a while since the stable hands had actually asked him for help. "Wagon tongues, you say? I'll deal with that later..."

Imari nods. "Yes, I noticed it the other day when they were hauling out some trash. The tongue looked a bit lopsided, when it should be straight. Bifron's wagon did that once, and it snapped in half about halfway up one of the mountains between here and home. He lost almost an entire wagonload of tithes. He was very upset." She pauses. "We used a lot of wagons around the hold. Father raises runners."

Darron continues to scrape the wall, "You don't say." This was just a polite way of keeping conversation. "Your father lives in the Weyr, right?"

This actually makes Imari laugh a bit. "Oh, shells, no!" she exclaims. "He's been to the weyr once, I think, in the past 15 turns, and that was because Bifron needed help with the tithes from the hold." She shakes her head. "No, he owns a small cothold in the mountains about as far from civilization as you can get." She looks terribly amused, probably at the thought of her father in Fort Weyr. "That's about as likely as me walking across the lake without getting my feet wet."

Darron laughs at her response. "Sorry, I just assumed. So your father doesn't like holds? I thought everyone liked holds."

Imari shakes her head. "No, he prefers the quiet of the mountains," she says emphatically. "He dragged mother and Sariel, that's my older sister, out to that tiny place before I was born. It's pretty, don't get me wrong, but there's something more to life than housework and all. Mother died when I was little, and my aunt raised us, but she died a few turns ago." She sighs. "Father remarried, and Ella, my stepmother, well, she and I don't get along, so I came here to find something more out of life."

Darron says, "Ahh, I see. So now you're at the Weyr applying your hands." He pushs away from the now cleaned wall and turns to see Imari looking straight at him. "My back looks good, doesn't it?"

Imari blinks. "I beg your pardon?" she asks, head tilting to the side. "I don't know -- oh. Well, I guess it looks as good as any back," she comments, shrugging. "Are you from the weyr, then?" she asks, turing the conversation back to home and all.

Darron thinks for a moment. "No, I'm actually from Fort Hold..." The list flew out of his pocket and headed northeast to the bowl. Darron's face fills with worry as he runs to catch the list. "Oh no! My list! I'll talk to you later, Imari!"

Darron heads off into the bowl.

Darron runs to catch up with the piece of skin which held his list. Darron jumps and catches the list and sighs. "That was close!"

Darron heads into Lavanya's room.

Darron says, "Hello, Lavanya?" Darron looked at the smith, "I'm here to fix something..."

Lavanya is sitting on her bed, still in a nightgown and robe. She looks up at the visitor and blushes. "Oh, yeah, the chair! Ummmmmm, can you wait outside while I get dressed real fast?"

Darron steps out of Lavanya's room.

Darron knocks on the smith door.

Darron thinks to himself for a minute. How long did it take just to get changed? He snorts and looks down at his list. "I could be doing something else right now..."

Darron heads into Lavanya's room.

Darron bows his head. "Sorry about that. I wasn't thinking..."

Lavanya says, "That's okay. I stayed up late last night harassing Jarin over some stuff." She is dressed now in tunic and pants, with thick slippers on her feet. She quickly pulls back her hair with a thong and says, "I'm glad you're here. I've been afraid to sit on the chair with its creaky leg. It's the right front one."

Darron takes a look at the chair and sighs. "Jarin didn't fix this? Strange..." Darron pops out a tool and starts to pull off the creaky leg. "Oh, don't thank me for this. That drat headwomen had it in my chores for today."

Lavanya sits on the unmade bed and says, "No, he said it wasn't Journeyman's work. That's kinda what started our argument last night."

Darron nods at the handiwork of the chair. Probably Jarin's, Darron thinks as he takes out his knife and corrects the problem with the leg giving more room to breath in the other chair. "What I'm doing is a very old trick that should work..." He pushes the leg back into place and then sits in the chair.
He nods as he acknowledges the improvement in the chair. "That
was it."

Darron sees that his job is done and heads out of the room.

Story:
L'ran makes his way in from the bowl, the living cavern being as quiet as the outside at this dawn hour. The bronzerider, who is well know for early rising, is looking quite sleepy today and is wearing a riding jacket that is quickly removed as he heads over to check the klah pots on the hearth to see if any are both warm and recently made. Finding someting that hopefully meets those rquirements, he pours himself a mugful and then starts walking on through towards the kitchens, knowing that fresh pastries, if any are to be found at this hour are not yet out. He meanders through the mostly empty tables on his way.
Darron walks in and yawns from the Lower Caverns. Looking around he spotted a bronzerider up early. "Um... hello."
L'ran was rather lost in his own thoughts, or maybe simply sleep walking, for he looks startled to hear somone else speaking. Or simply because the cavern was pretty much empty when he wandered in. "Morning." He looks about to say someting and stops as he looks at the lad who addressed him, face being familiar but name lost in his tired brain. "Early duties too? Should be fresh pastries coming out of hte ovens now. If we're nice to the girls in the kitchens, they'll let us have some." And he motions for Darron to follow him inside.
L'ran heads up the steps to the kitchens.
L'ran has left.
Darron sighs as he quickly rushes. Pouring himself a mugful of klah, he rushes to the kitchens.
*You climb a short flight of steps, passing between two hearths to the kitchens.
L'ran offers up a sleepy smile to one of the older women working early shift in the kitchens as he heads to one of the small tables on the side. On his way, there is a far bigger grin for a blond haired girl who looks to be in her late teens and a whispered comment which triggers some giggles from her. Still, he looks satisfied with the results and simply sits to wait.
Darron takes a sip of his klah and looks at the bronzerider. "So do you think we can get some pastries?" He sits down right beside L'ran. "
Darron says, "Anything that you need me to fix? The headwomen hasn't given me my chores yet." Darron takes another sip of his klah."
And even before L'ran can answer the question, the blond girl has come over to the table with a plate of pastries that are still steaming, "Just out of the oven so let them cool," she offers up before hurrying back to her work station before she gets in trouble. "Got them, see. Just need to know which ones to be nice to. Learned that from C'lan." He takes a sip of his klah, stifling a yawn, "Don't think anyone will require anything to be fixed at this hour. I'm just off midnight watch but what's got you up so early?"
Darron thinks for a moment. He didn't really have an excuse for being up so early. "Um... I overslept yesterday and woke up early. I plan on doing a lot of work tonight."
L'ran says, "No need to sound apologetic to me. Just not many folks up now save the kitchen staff." He move to take one of the pastries, taking a bite of the flaky crust and smiling, "One good thing is to get them fresh fron the oven. Reward for starting the day early. Though if you're going to work a lot tonight, you ought to have slept in."
Darron says, "Too hard. When I wake up, I stay up." Moving a pastry from the plate, he takes a bite. Quickly, he covers his mouth from the heat, "Oh, hot!"
L'ran's mouth is busy chewing and swallowing so it takes him a moment to answer, "I'm the same way I suppose. But I'm getting to bed right after this." He picks up his klah mug to wash down the food, making a face as he realizes its not nearly as fresh as the breakfast offerings.
Darron laughs after swallowing the piece of pastry. "So I was wondering about being a dragonrider. I stood for Vedyath's clutch, but I didn't impress."
L'ran's only response is a shrug after he steps away to get some fresh klah. sitting back down and letting the steaming contents cool, he picks up another pastry from the plate. "Its a job. At least its interesting sometimes, when one gets to discuss wing strategy. Though a lot of it is boring its far better than having been a drudge, thats for sure."
Darron says, "I'm just a handyman. It's also a job." He brushs his eyes as he takes a sip from his klah. Taking another bite from his pastry, he smiles. "I would love to just fly in the sky with a dragon.""
"Fixing things is interesting. Get to do something new each day and use your hands." The bronzerider's voice has a wistful quality to it as he says that. "Far better than shoveling muck or hte latrines at least. No shortage of dragons to give you rides here if that's what you want. Just don't go for a rider during fall is all."
Darron says, "Fixing things is boring compared to riding a dragon for life." He fingers another pastry, "Looks like I have to wait for another hatching...""
Gradual light breaks as the summer sun rises on this early morning. Full winds stir the air considerably, enough to send branches swaying. A few clouds dot the otherwise warm skies. The summer air is warm and balmy.
L'ran chuckles softly at that, but its not really a happy sound, "Being a rider isn't very exciting really when you do it every day. Sweeps for hours, drills, laps, fall. Not much variation though fall is exciting I suppose. If you like risking your life."
Darron notices the non-happy chuckle and starts to wonder if he said something wrong. Looking at the more lighted room, he starts wondering about the midnight watch that the dragonrider did. "I'm sorry, I've kept you up for this long..."
L'ran shakes his head, "No need to be sorry. Wanted to grab something to eat since I'll sleep through breakfast. At least no dawn drills to follow it." He chuckles again, though without the sad undertones, "If I can be rude to B'den, it'd be no big deal for me to just walk off on you if I wanted to sleep. You'd not stick me with a sevenday of midnight watch as a result either."
Darron sighs with relief. "Oh good... You can be rude to B'den?" Darron looks at him with a sign of shock on his face. "Really?"
"B'den assumes I'm rude even when I'm doing nothing wrong at all. My reputation appears to have caught up with me there. Don't think he likes me much but at least he tapped me into his wing. Couldn't have stood having to fly under C'lan with Jen." The expression of distaste on L'ran's face adds quite a bit of emphasis to his words.
Darron says, "Just please don't be rude to me, dragonrider." Darron takes a bite of his pastry and finishes it with a sip from his cold klah. Darron thinks that he really doesn't know the dragonrider's name."
L'ran stares at the teenager seated across from him, a bewildered expression on his face, "Why in Faranth's name would I be rude to you? And why should you care if I were? I'm not a ranking rider or anything and half the weyr or more doesn't like me anyway." He's too suprised to even think to offer up his name at this moment.
Darron chuckles for a brief second, then looks at the dragonrider staring at him. "Still, You were chosen for impression and I wasn't. By the first egg, that makes you better than me."
"Better than you? Shells, riders aren't any better than anyone else. A lot of them are a whole lot worse." L'ran isn't, after all, known for his respect of riders or anyone else for that matter. "Dragons don't have much sense. Don't know what they see when they decide to impress. After all, no one thought I should have. Don't go thinking you're bad cause you didn't, lots of people don't impress first time standing. And some absolute idiots do."
Darron thinks about his past and sighs. "Can your dragon look into your past?" Darron trys to hide his fear from the dragonrider but looks down at his klah still getting colder by the minute.
The somewhat annoyed tone of voice L'ran had been using while chastising only moments early changes to something far more thoughtful as he considers the question, "Looking into one's past is more a human concept. Dragons don't have much in the way of memory at all. Just think about the here and know. So I don't think so really.... if Gerroth knows about me before." He gives his head a shake, "Not related to dragonriding anyway as far I can think. Unless you knew formations or something then."
Darron shakes his head no as he replies, "It's something that I don't want to relive..." His gaze shifts from his klah to his right arm which is covered.
L'ran seems rather oblivioius to Darron's reaction, busy with finishing up his pastry and draining his klah mug, his eyes half closed. "Got to go get some sleep since if I'm late for drills later this morning, B'den will make me do an extra 2 laps around the bowl. Too tired for that today. Have a good day." And the bronzerider stands up, taking his mug over to a sink where someone is doing hte washing up.
Darron says, "Alright, oh I'm Darron..."
L'ran looks back over his shoulder when he hears the name called out, "Well met. L'ran." And with that, he's heading down the steps and out of hte kitchens
L'ran heads out beneath the entrance and down the steps to the living cavern.
*L'ran has left.
Darron says, "Hmm... L'ran, huh?" Darron smiles brightly. "Nice to meet you, L'ran."
Darron climbs to his feet and takes his dishes over to where L'ran put his dishes and deposited them.
*You head down the steps into the living cavern.
*You head through the short, sloping tunnel to the lower caverns.
*You step into the residential cavern.
Darron climbs into his bed and quickly falls asleep not caring for what kind of reprimmand the headwoman has in store for him.

Night time fun

My account for Saturday Night/Sunday Morning is very dull.

Around 6 pm, I woke up and started to head onto Threadfall (a text-based game if you don't play it) and found out that it wouldn't load. I even tried the telnet and that didn't work... it made me cry. But then I made a long distance phone call back to Illinois to my friends and we got on Final Fantasy XI. They even helped me to level seven. I couldn't sit still any longer and logged of. Then I started to watch Anime; Prince of Tennis, Mar, Bleach, and Mahou Sensei Negi. I have the fan subs for them. Not released in America yet.

I'm about to head off to bed... night.
